Christmas and New Year services
Most of our services will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day. However, many of our services are available online.
Report a concern
- Social services - report abuse out of hours

Out of hours emergencies
If there is an emergency, call 03000 41 91 91.
Our Contact Centre staff are available to take emergency calls only on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and 27 December. If your enquiry is not urgent you will be able to contact us from 8am on Thursday 28 December 2023.
Our Kent Support and Assistance Service is closed from 3pm on 22 December until 9am on 28 December. They also are unavailable on New Year's Day and will reopen on 2 January.
If you need urgent assistance during this time, contact the Social Services line on 03000 41 91 91.
Help and advice this winter
We've got information and advice about how to stay healthy and warm, travel safely and get support with heating and food if you need it, including:

Registrations
Our Registration team are available for bookings from 28 to 30 December. We return to our normal hours from 2 January 2024.

Libraries
Our Libraries are:
- closed: Christmas Eve and 27 December
- open: 28 December to 30 December
- closed: New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
- Deal Library and Whitstable Library are open 31 December, 10am to 4pm.
Mobile libraries are not available between 23 December and 7 January. We are back on the road again from 8 January 2024.

Waste
Our household waste recycling centres are:
- open: Christmas Eve (9am to 2pm)
- closed: Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day
- open: 27 to 31 December (normal hours on 27 December and 9am to 2pm on New Year's Eve).
Before you visit you need to book a slot.

Our Country Parks have lots of great activities taking place before Christmas and during the lead up to New Year. Whether you're looking for an activity to do with the family, or simply want to get out into the fresh air, you'll find something to do!

Our Gateways are places to access public and voluntary services. Check when our Gateways are open over the festive period.
Education
- Apply for a primary school place - don't forget to apply for your child's primary school place. The deadline for September 2024 is January 15.
