Know your score quiz, low risk score - video transcript for Rupert Symons

This is the transcript for the video that is part of the results of the know your score quiz.

A short video presentation by Rupert Symons, Recovery Worker at Forward Trust. Rupert will tell you your score, and talk about the risks associated with your current level of drinking.

Rupert: “Hi. According to the questionnaire, you are drinking at what is classed as low-risk levels.

Most people in the UK – about 60 per cent - enjoy drinking at low risk levels so well done, it looks like you are drinking within the recommended guidelines of no more than 14 units a week.

Just as a reminder, a unit is a single measure of spirits, there are two units in a standard glass of wine or pint of regular beer or cider and three units in a large glass of wine or pint of strong beer or cider.

If you want to do even better – try having at least two alcohol free days a week though to keep within the low risk score.

Keep up the good work and always try to keep your drinking within the low-risk score, as having days when you drink more than twice the daily recommended units can be classed as binge drinking and increases your risk of problems, like hangovers, accidents, risky situations and the dreaded drunken texts!

Don’t forget – sometimes just one or two units can be too much such as if you are taking certain medications, it could make you drowsy and cause problems when driving or operating machinery or they may not work as well when combined with alcohol.

Thank you for taking time to know your score, if you think other people could benefit from knowing their score please pass this tool on to them.”
