Know your score quiz, higher risk score - video transcript for Caz Nech

This is the transcript for the video that is part of the results of the know your score quiz.

A short video presentation by Caz Nech, an Advisor at One You Kent. Caz will talk about your score and your level of drinking. She also offers some advice about what you should look out for or be careful of when you have a drink.

Caz: "Hello and thank you for taking the Know Your score Test. Your score has indicated a high risk in relation to your drinking, so if you’re not experiencing problems now there is a considerable risk of that happening at your current levels of use.

A physical dependency should be avoided at all costs. At this level of drinking you might have quite a high tolerance. You may think “I can handle it”, “I feel fine” or “I don’t get hangovers”, or things like that. But is that a good thing? It can potentially show that your body is just becoming very used to and tolerant of consuming alcohol. The negative effects that can arise creep up on you gradually so you don’t really know they’re happening, and if you develop that physical dependence it is often too late. Action can still be taken at that level but if you can, take preventative action now.

There is support there to help you focus on all the positive reasons why you want to take action to reduce your alcohol intake, and reduce the very serious harm it is likely to be doing to your body in terms of physical and mental health: liver damage, risk of cancer, high blood pressure and cardio vascular disease.

But this is not about judging you for any current behaviours in relation to your current alcohol use it’s about focussing on how much better you will feel and yes of course reduce the risk of all these preventable health issues that can arise.

So if you want a bit of support, just get in touch. We’re here to help. Thank you."
