Electric scooters (e-scooters)
Riding an e-scooter on a public road or path in Kent is illegal, and this is enforced by Kent Police.
E-scooters can be used on private land with the landowner's permission.
Our e-scooter trials
From November 2020 to November 2022, we worked with the Department for Transport and Canterbury City Council to run e-scooter trials in Canterbury city centre.
We wanted to explore how e-scooters could support local public transport and environmental goals, whilst still maintaining public safety. What we learn in these trials will support our future sustainable transport strategies.
