Device Recycling Scheme

Free recycling for your unwanted devices

We are launching a recycling scheme for residents, businesses, charities and other organisations to dispose of their unwanted IT equipment and assets easily, safely, securely and in a way that minimises the impact on the environment.

Unwanted and discarded devices contribute to the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) category and are part of the fastest growing type of waste in the UK today.

Our Device Recycling Scheme aims to refurbish and reuse wherever possible and directly supports those in our community, who need access to devices and hardware.

What happens to your items

We use a specialist process to ensure 100% data-wiping, to the strictest UK legislative standards.

Items are then refurbished and reused to support those in our community who need a device, or recycled with a zero landfill policy.

How to use the scheme

If you have items to dispose of, you will soon be able to book a collection online. Your items will then be collected by satellite-tracked vehicles.

We will update this web page as soon as online booking is available.

About Digital Kent

We established Digital Kent in 2021 as part of the Helping Hands scheme which was set up to help families and businesses hit hardest by the pandemic. The Helping Hands scheme allocated £2.5 million to tackle digital exclusion in Kent and a further £2.5 million was allotted from the Contain Outbreak Management Fund (COMF) for digital inclusion.

Our Digital Kent team are managing a number of projects, including this one, to improve digital inclusion and capability. Visit the Digital Kent website to find out more. The support and services that Digital Kent offers are time-limited, due to the nature of the funding available.
