Growth and Infrastructure Framework (GIF)

The link between infrastructure and growth is well known. Infrastructure, such as roads, schools, community facilities and healthcare, is important not only in creating sustainable communities, but also in unlocking development.

We have prepared the Kent and Medway Growth and Infrastructure Framework (GIF) to provide a picture of emerging development and infrastructure requirements, to support growth across Kent and Medway, up to 2031.

The 2018 update of the GIF predicts that £16.4 billion investment in infrastructure is required to unlock the growth potential of the area.

The GIF also provides a strategic framework across the county for identifying and prioritising investment across a range of infrastructure. The framework is fundamental in providing robust evidence to attract investment and engagement, and in supporting the case for public funding bids and packaging projects for major private sector investment

We have worked closely with Medway Council, districts, boroughs and key strategic partners in preparation for the GIF. The framework draws together information and data from a range of sources, including district local plans, Infrastructure Delivery Plans (IDPs) and infrastructure and service providers.
