Salt from salt bins is only for use on the public highway, not on private property.
Report empty or damaged salt bins
Salt bins are currently being refilled as they are reported to us.
There are just over 3,000 salt bins in the county and this stock is considered sufficient to meet the needs of local communities. In line with our Winter Policy (PDF, 565.6 KB) no new salt bins will be placed this winter (2023 to 2024).
