Secondary school places

You must apply for a secondary school place for your child to start year 7 at secondary school. You will need to do this when your child is in Year 6 at primary school.

If your child is already at secondary school and you want to move them to a different school you must apply for an in year admission.

It's important to find out more about schools you're interested in before you apply.

This year Kent parents will be able to name up to 6 secondary school preferences, an increase from 4, to account for the fact that they will not know their child’s Kent Test result before applications need to be submitted on 2 November 2020.

We will provide advice to all parents during the application window to ensure they can make the best use of these preferences

For more information read our guide to secondary school applications (PDF, 909.6 KB).

Please ensure you have read KCC’s Admissions privacy notice before you apply for a school place.
