Become a clerk to governors

The Kent Clerking Service provides expert and professional clerking support to governing bodies.

What is a clerk

A good clerk is a valuable and essential asset to any governing body, and duties undertaken efficiently can make a real difference to the governing body's role in school improvement.

The work is interesting, varied and challenging, as well as rewarding.

The clerk to the governing body is responsible for:

  • convening and attending meetings of the governing body
  • taking minutes
  • keeping a register of governing body members and attendance
  • keeping a track of membership
  • giving advice and support on relevant procedure and regulations.

Our clerks are fully trained and supported to perform these duties.
