In 2019 the highest number of all new STIs in Kent was observed in people aged 20 to 24 years, with detection highest amongst females. This included gonorrhoea, genital warts and chlamydia.
Remember that:
- despite having multiple partners increasing the risk of an STI, you can catch an STI from just one person during your first sexual encounter
- many STIs don’t have symptoms but, if left untreated, can cause long-term health problems
- STIs can be simple to treat, and our sexual health nurses are used to supporting people with testing and treatment.
