Gambling Harms Prevention Grant Scheme

Utilising funding from the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID), we are offering grants of £5,000 to £8,000 for gambling harms prevention projects. We have allocated up to £60,000 as a total grant fund for 2026/27.

We recognise the importance of preventing gambling harms through:

  • early intervention
  • education
  • community support
  • improved awareness of available services.

This grant programme aims to support community and voluntary sector organisations to develop and deliver innovative, targeted gambling harms prevention interventions across Kent.

Providers applying for a grant will ensure the programme will meet at least one of the following outcomes:

  • Training for frontline staff across health, social care, housing and voluntary sectors to support early recognition and onward referral to relevant services.
  • Identification and support for people displaying early signs of gambling harm.
  • Adopt an evidence-informed approach to gambling harm prevention.
  • Target communities identified as being at higher risk of gambling-related harm.
  • Contribute to reducing gambling-related inequalities.
  • Gambling harms information and advice, screening tools, and referral pathways embedded into current services.
  • Promotion of gambling transaction blocks available through banks.
  • Work with young people in schools, colleges and youth settings to educate on gambling harms and raise awareness.
  • Creation of referral guidance and toolkits.
  • Work with family and affected others via support and signposting.

Eligibility

We welcome applications from:

  • voluntary and community organisations
  • registered charities
  • social enterprises
  • Community Interest Companies (CICs)
  • not-for-profit organisations
  • faith organisations delivering community-based support.

To apply, your organisation must be:

  • based in the administrative area of Kent County Council
  • proposing a project that is not already complete.

Organisations with ideas that could contribute to our ambition, but cost less than £5,000 should email integratedteam@kent.gov.uk .

Assessment

Applications will be assessed by a panel against a set of agreed criteria, including

  • value for money
  • sustainability
  • likely effectiveness and impact of the proposed project.

Applicants will be notified of the outcome by Friday 27 November 2026, or earlier where possible.

Successful projects must begin no later than December 2026, be completed by 31st March 2027 and provide both a mid-project and final report.
