Primary school places

Applications are being processed. You will receive your offer on Tuesday 19 April .

You must apply for a primary school place if:

  • your child is due to start primary or infant school (reception year)
  • your child is at infant school (year 2) and is due to start junior school (year 3)
  • your child is at primary school (year 2) and you want your child to move to junior school at the start of year 3

What to do

Applications for transfer to primary school for both reception year and year 3 (junior school) in September 2022 opened on Friday 5 November 2021 and closed on Monday 17 January 2022.

Applications for 2022

Applications for children starting school in September 2022 for both reception year and year 3 (junior school) closed on Monday 17 January 2022.

Applications are processed between 18 January and 19 April 2022.

If you have not applied and are a Kent resident please contact kentonlineadmissions@kent.gov.uk with your child’s name, date of birth, full address and current school. We will then advise you of the next steps.

If you have applied but your circumstances have changed and you need to amend your application please also email us so we can assist you.

Summer born children

If your child was born between 1 April and 31 August and you want them to defer starting school until the next academic year, email primaryadmissions@kent.gov.uk for more information.

Special educational needs and disabilities children

Most children with special educational needs and disabilities can attend mainstream schools, whether or not they have an EHCP. Find out more about applying for a school place for your SEND child.

Additional information

Some schools may need you to complete an additional form called a Supplementary Information Form (SIF). You can collect the form from the school.

Free schools

There are no new free schools opening in 2022.

If you applied online we will email you on Tuesday 19 April 2022 after 4pm to tell you which school you have been offered.

You can also log in from 5pm on 19 April 2022 to view your offer online.

We cannot guarantee the exact time you will receive your email, this will depend on your email service provider.

Offer emails will be sent to the email address provided on your application.

Due to data protection restrictions we cannot send the offer to an alternate address without authorisation from the original email account. If you have changed email address please ensure you can still access the original one so you can receive your offer, or you can view your offer online. With our team working remotely at the moment, there may be a significant delay in arranging for a letter to be sent to you instead if you can't access the email, so you should treat this as a last resort.
