Primary school places

You must apply for a primary school place if:

  • your child is due to start primary or infant school (reception year)
  • your child is at infant school (year 2) and is due to start junior school (year 3)
  • your child is at primary school (year 2) and you want your child to move to junior school at the start of year 3

    It's important to find out more about schools you are interested in before you decide to name them on your application form. You can name up to 3 schools on your form.

  • Apply

    Applications for children due to start primary and junior school in September 2017 open on 7 November 2016 and close on 16 January 2017.

    You can apply for up to 3 schools, putting them in order of preference. It's in your best interests to list 3 schools. Naming only one school does not guarantee your child a place at that school or give your child priority for a place over another child, neither does naming a school more than once.

    Additional information forms

    Some schools may need you to complete an additional form called a Supplementary Information Form (SIF).

    You can collect the form from the school.

  • Processing

    We will process applications between 17 January and 17 April 2017.

    If you applied online we will email you on 18 April 2017 after 4pm to tell you which school you have been offered. We cannot guarantee the exact time you will receive your email, this will depend on your email service provider.

    You can also log in from 5pm on 18 April 2017 to view your offer.

    If you applied by post we will send your offer by first class post on 18 April 2017.

  • Offers

    If you applied online we will email you on 18 April 2017 after 4pm to tell you which school you have been offered. We cannot guarantee the exact time you will receive your email, this will depend on your email service provider.

    You can also log in from 5pm on 18 April 2017 to view your offer. If you need to reset your password you must use the email address you registered with.

    If you applied by post we will send your offer by first class post on 18 April 2017.
