The Integrated Community Equipment Service (ICES) provides community equipment to help people live safely at home.

We run the service with the Kent and Medway NHS Integrated Care System. Together, we support children, older people and people with disabilities across Kent.

Helping people at home to stay independent

Our aim is to provide an efficient, integrated service that:

  • supports people's health and wellbeing
  • promotes independence
  • gives people greater choice in how they live their daily lives

Community equipment can help people:

  • carry out everyday tasks
  • stay safe at home
  • remain independent for longer.

It can also support carers and families, helping people stay connected to the people and places that matter to them.

Working with partners and people with lived experience

We work with health and care professionals, prescribers, experts by experience, carers and equipment providers to develop and improve the service.

By listening to a range of experiences and perspectives, we can design support that:

  • meets people's needs
  • improves outcomes
  • makes good use of public funding
  • improves quality
  • reduces our environmental impact.

Using technology to improve support

Community equipment is one way we help people stay independent at home. We also use technology through our Technology Enhanced Lives Service (TELS).

TELS uses technology and digital solutions alongside equipment and other forms of support. This can help people stay safe, connected and independent while ensuring support remains effective and sustainable for the future.
