[Title card] Kent County Council Alcohol and Drug Support - Chantel's story.
[Chantel enters the room and sits down on the chair in front of the camera in an office. She sits down smiling.]
Chantel: "I started working at 11, 17 I started cannabis and after cannabis I done every single drug going.
"I used to go to raves, so I'd do E's trips, speed. So every drug going. Ending up staying in one weekend from raving and I was sitting there doing heroin. So after ten years, I was a heroin addict.
"And then all of a sudden, I just remember waking up one day and thought, I need to go home. I can't do this anymore. And I think that took about three months for me to slowly come off it. But then what I did do, I substituted that thinking, oh a drink would be okay. I think it would perhaps hiding who I really am.
"But finding now who I am, I'm liking who I am.
"If you work the programme, then you can do this. You can beat it. Reach out, talk to someone, get in contact with your doctor, anyone that can help, and just stick with it. One day at a time, it only takes one day at a time."
