Medequip now provide the Kent Community Equipment Service and are responsible for:

  • servicing your equipment to make sure it remains safe and fully operational
  • repairing any equipment that becomes damaged or stops working
  • collecting equipment that is no longer needed.

Our priority is to make sure that everyone continues to receive safe and reliable equipment. If you have NRS daily living equipment, you do not need to give it back, Medequip will be looking after your equipment now.

Medequip cannot deliver equipment that’s not been approved by a health or care professional. Please speak to the person who authorised your equipment. This could be your doctor, or a specialist nurse, for example.

Service

Your equipment needs to be kept in good working order. Medequip will carry out regular servicing repairs on their equipment and any NRS equipment in their catalogue. They do this through Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) visits.

It is important that you contact Medequip to arrange this.

These visits are vital and help identify wear and tear, confirm that equipment continues to meet safety standards, and provide peace of mind to you and your carers.

During these visits, Medequip staff will check any equipment that is due, or overdue, a maintenance inspection - particularly items with a LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998) label that has expired.

This includes, but is not limited to, the following equipment:

  • profiling beds
  • hoists and stand aids
  • slings
  • bath lifts
  • specialist chairs
  • pressure-relieving mattresses and pumps.

Medequip will check the maintenance schedule and, if needed, arrange a visit to ensure your equipment remains safe and fully functional. Their staff carry official identification badges and will be wearing a Medequip uniform for your reassurance.
