Care and support in the home services
How home care services can help you
If you or someone you loves wants to:
- live in their own home
- live independently
- manage their own daily activities
Then the care and support in the home services can help you.
We can arrange for care or support workers to visit people in your home. We offer these services through through care or support contracts through private companies on our behalf.
Good care and support in the home services should:
- support you to take greater control of your lives by providing you with the skills to maintain a good quality of life
- help you to develop and retain skills to make you maintain an independent, fulfilling life for as long as possible
- put you (and your primary carer or family) at the centre of decisions about how you are supported and cared for
- be provided in such a way that you feel involved, secure and confident in the care and support delivered to you.

About home care contracts
The contracts for the services were reviewed and re-let in 2019, on the basis that we ensured the services provided were of a good quality, were value for money and supported you to live as independently as possible in your own home.
These contracts started on 8 April 2019 and will run for 5 years.
Most people who receive a home care service will not be affected by these changes. Where home care agencies change, if your care and support arrangements are affected, we will write to you to explain and advise on the next steps.
