Sometimes you may feel that health and social care workers are not listening to you. You may find it hard to share your thoughts or express your views.

An advocate is trained, fair, and impartial. Their service is confidential and not linked to us. They will offer support to make sure:

  • your views and rights are respected
  • you are treated fairly
  • your concerns are taken into account
  • you have real control over the big decisions in your life
  • you can speak up at meetings
  • you can understand decisions about your life.

You can access some advocacy services on your own. Just contact local advocacy providers directly. Other advocacy will only be given to you if we agree that you are eligible for it.

If you're unsure about your right to have an advocate, speak to your caseworker. Or speak to one of our local advocacy providers.
