Request to review a Blue Badge application form
If you are unhappy with the decision of your Blue Badge application, you can request a review. You must be able to show us:
- medical evidence of your condition
- how your condition impacts you
- how your condition has got worse since you applied.
Evidence we need
It's important that you give us all the information we need. The documents you send must match up with the description in the application form.
Only send us copies, not originals. We cannot return your documents.
You can send us:
- an up-to-date letter of diagnosis
- evidence of the progression of the condition over time
- evidence of prescribed medications relevant to your condition
- evidence of specialist consultations or referrals
- evidence of risk planning or assessment
- an education, health and care (EHC) plan
- care plans from social care services
- social housing letters or assessment reports
- letters from professionals involved in your care
- Personal Independence Payment (PIP) decision letters
- evidence of other benefits you get.
You can use evidence from your GP. However, this cannot be the only evidence, we will need one of the above.
If you feel you need to offer extra evidence for your application, you can do. If you have to pay to get any evidence, we will not reimburse the cost. We cannot guarantee we will issue a Blue Badge before you pay for extra evidence. We will still need to assess your evidence.
Evidence we do not accept
We do not accept appointment confirmation letters or Blue Badge supporting letters from Zoom Doc, The GP Clinic or other online healthcare providers. These online medical organisations are not involved in your ongoing care. Please do not pay for letters from them.
How to appeal
You must request a review of your application within 60 days of the refusal date. You must send us any new documents of proof you haven't sent us before.

What happens after you appeal
If we can’t accept your documents, we may need to see you in person. We’ll contact you to arrange a face-to-face appointment if needed. If you refuse or don’t attend, we cannot continue with your review.
