A225 Dartford Road zebra crossing
In February 2026, we installed a new zebra crossing on the A225 Dartford Road at the junction with Hitchen Hatch Lane, Park Lane and Vine Court Road, Sevenoaks.
The scheme included:
- formal crossing to use access to Sevenoaks Train Station and War Memorial
- anti-skid surfacing to be installed 50 metres in both directions of the new crossing
- signage to warn drivers of the crossing.
The proposal was consulted on as part of the Sevenoaks Town-wide 20mph speed limit and traffic calming scheme in autumn 2022.
In December 2022, the Sevenoaks Joint Transportation Board recommended to start the works on the zebra crossing.
Sevenoaks Town Council (STC) further consulted on the 20mph scheme, whilst avoiding a connection to the zebra crossing proposal in their press release of April and November 2024.
To fund the scheme, a total of £100,000 was secured via:
- Sevenoaks Town Council’s Community Investment Plan (CIP) - £25,000
- Sevenoaks District Council’s Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) - £20,000
- Active Travel England’s Consolidated Active Travel Fund (CATF) - £55,000
