Shivon's Connect to Work story

Shivon joined the Connect to Work programme while she was still in work.

She was finding her job difficult because of the pressure it put on her mental health. She felt overwhelmed, had lost confidence and was unsure what to do next.

How we helped

Shivon worked with her employment specialist, Gerda, from The Education People. Gerda provided practical advice and emotional support when Shivon needed it most.

Together, they updated Shivon's CV and looked at different ways to find work. Gerda helped her create a clear plan for searching and applying for jobs.

Before long, Shivon was being invited to interviews. Gerda helped her prepare by practising interview questions and building her confidence.

As they explored different opportunities, Shivon thought about the jobs she had enjoyed in the past and what she wanted from her future career.

Soon, Shivon received several job offers.

Through open and honest conversations, Shivon decided that an outreach role with Fusion Community Centre was the right fit for her. She accepted the offer and began the next step in her career.

Gerda supported Shivon throughout the move to her new job. This included helping her understand her notice period, health questionnaire and employment contract.

Shivon started her new role in December 2025. She stayed in touch with Gerda while she settled into her new workplace.

Shivon's success

Today, Shivon is enjoying her new job and feels much more confident about the future.
