Forest School programme

Invest in this longer-term approach to outdoor learning, with a focus on building self-esteem, independence, and self-exploration. Each programme is unique, tailored to the needs of your group of children.

The range and variety of environments in our parks is perfect for this internationally renowned approach, generating excitement, firing imaginations and inspiring confidence.

Although there is no prescribed list of activities at Forest School, many national curriculum learning outcomes will be met through the Kent Country Parks Forest School programme, and themes of study can be brought into sessions and developed back in the classroom.

Key areas of development that Forest School offers:

  • social
  • physical
  • intellectual
  • language and linguistics
  • emotional
  • self-confidence.

Our Seedlings Forest School programme has been specifically designed for early years foundation stage (EYFS) children. It includes sensory, bushcraft and play-based activities and games and songs, all of which encourage the children to build relationships and self esteem.

These run over 6 sessions with a maximum of 15 pupils per session.

Curriculum links: covers all 6 areas of the EYFS framework

Primary school children thrive in a woodland setting, as they are still young enough to enjoy games and stories whilst being able to develop practical skills and take on a greater level of responsibility.

These run over 6 sessions with a maximum of 15 pupils per session.

Curriculum links: mathematics, literacy, science, design and technology, art and design, citizenship

There is no prescribed programme of activities as we tailor the sessions specifically to each group, however activities could include:

  • bushcraft
  • fires and cooking
  • outdoor games
  • stories and songs
  • natural art
  • forest orchestra.

Bring our outdoor learning expertise into your environment, where many of our sessions can be delivered. If you have a suitable setting we can run Forest School sessions at your site. The area doesn’t need to be large and our qualified education rangers will provide guidance on where and how this can be delivered.
