Singleton Environmental Centre in Ashford is a community organisation that supports outdoor learning and environmental education.

To support increased active travel and improve efficiency, the centre applied for funding to purchase an electric folding bike for the centre manager.

The centre manager regularly travels across Ashford to attend meetings, manage partnerships and support outreach activity. Walking was often too slow to be practical, while car use conflicted with the centre’s environmental values and sustainability messaging. Limited on site storage space also made a standard bicycle unsuitable.

The funded electric folding bike has:

  • reduced reliance on car travel for short and medium trips
  • improved efficiency, allowing the centre manager to attend meetings and site visits more effectively
  • demonstrated active travel in action, reinforcing the centre’s educational role and reducing organisational emissions.

I'd really like to thank KCC Active Travel for the grant funding they made available. Since getting the e-bike it has meant I've not needed to rely on car journeys to get to offsite appointments in and around town. The journeys are a lot more pleasant  and very time efficient as well.
