Cycle Community Ashford (often called Cycle Community CIC) is a local not for profit organisation (community interest company) involved in cycling projects in Ashford.

Cycle Community were awarded £4,200 towards a cargo bike. The new bike means they can now easily transport tools and children’s bikes to schools and community events.

The cargo bike has been invaluable to our work, allowing us to easily transport tools and children’s bikes to schools and community events. It has made our sessions more efficient, visible, and accessible to the local community.

  • education and training, including:
    • working with young people
    • eaching bike mechanics and practical skills with mentoring
    • help to improve confidence, behaviour and employability
  • community cycling support
  • free or low cost cycling activities, including:
    • bike maintenance workshops
    • community rides
      outreach sessions.

We recently used the bike to deliver our balance bikes and helmets to a local school for our Cycle Ready balance sessions. Parking restrictions previously made it difficult to drop off equipment but using the cargo bike was a real pleasure - it allowed us to cycle directly into the playground.
