Hugh and Montague Leney (Travelling) Awards Trust
This funding programme is closed to new applications.
Students who are spending their gap year doing community or humanitarian projects could apply for an award of up to £2,500 from the Hugh and Montague Leney (Travelling) Awards Trust.
The money provided is not intended to cover total costs. Parents' contributions, individual initiative and other sources of fundraising or sponsorship will be considered towards the application.
Individuals and small groups are encouraged to use their initiative in the planning and fulfilment of worthwhile projects and in their commitment to the less fortunate.
The award will be given to projects that are of a humanitarian nature in less well-developed regions and beneficial to the local community.
It is not an overseas holiday. The overseas project needs to have a duration of at least 4 weeks but particularly strong applications for shorter projects may still be considered.

- between the age of 16 and 19 years old
- attending a school in Kent, Medway, Bexley or Bromley or have left school in the last 12 months
Preference is given to those who have:

Applications closed on 27 February 2026.
The Hugh and Montague Leney (Travelling) Awards Trust will be in contact regarding whether your application is successful or not.
