Record-breaking temperatures and very dry conditions means the risk of wildfires in Kent's countryside parks and other outdoor spaces is high.

We all have our part to play in reducing the risk of fires starting. Keep yourself and others safe by staying vigilant and looking out for the signs of fire spreading out of control.

How you can help

Sales of disposable barbecues are currently banned. You can also avoid using the following to help prevent the spread of fire:

  • Barbecues
  • Firepits
  • Garden incinerators
  • Fireworks

Follow these simple steps to reduce the risk of fire:

  • Dispose of cigarettes properly in an ash tray - never throw them out of car windows as they can ignite dry grass.
  • Avoid barbecues in parks, public spaces, and other open areas.
  • Take your litter home - especially glass bottles, which can magnify sunlight and start fires.
