Your garden waste goes to large composting halls. At the halls, we use a method called 'in-vessel composting' or IVC for short to make compost.

This process allows us to heat the waste up to 60°C for 16 days. During these 16 days, we turn it every 48 hours to kill off any harmful microbes.

Once the treatment is complete, we screen the compost and we then leave it to stabilise. This is how we make compost, which is nutrient-rich and peat-free. The compost is then suitable to use as a soil improver for farming and agriculture.

This process is fast, effective, and meets the rules we need to stick to. Learn more about the regulatory requirements.
