Little Bookworms
About the course
Stories help children use their imagination, feel confident and learn about the world. Sharing books together is a great way to help your child grow.
Little Bookworms is a fun 3 week programme for children aged 1 to 4 years old and their parent or carer. Families enjoy stories, songs and rhymes together while learning simple ways to help children talk and communicate.
Each session looks at a different book or theme. Children can join in with activities, play and chat. At the end of the 3 sessions, every family gets free book packs to keep enjoying stories at home.
The early years are an important time for learning. Little Bookworms shows families how small, everyday things such as reading, singing and rhyming can help a child’s future.
This friendly programme gives parents and carers easy ideas and activities to help their child learn through books.
During the course, you will explore:
- why stories matter - how books and rhymes help young children grow
- how to help your child talk - simple ways to build language and communication
- fun book activities - games and play linked to exciting stories
- building confidence - feeling sure about helping your child learn
- daily story time - making reading part of family life
- getting ready for learning - helping your child prepare for their next steps.
