Toxicology services
Our toxicology team carries out forensic toxicology for Her Majesty’s Coroners. This is in cases of sudden or unexplained death which may involve toxic substances such as alcohol, prescribed drugs, illegal drugs, carbon monoxide, cyanide or solvents. Our findings help the Coroner to arrive at a verdict on the nature of a death.
We also offer these analytical services to health and safety officers, occupational health professionals and similar professions.
This service is not available for monitoring therapeutic levels of drugs for patients undergoing treatment.
Road Traffic Act alcohol
Under the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988, motorists who are required to give a blood or urine sample will also receive part of this sample for their own analysis. Kent Scientific Services is a UKAS accredited testing laboratory No. 1398 for the analysis of alcohol.
Our highly qualified and experienced analysts are trained to appear in court as expert witness.
We also offer this service to professions requiring analysis of alcohol in blood or urine in relation to employment or other issues.
You will need to pay a fee in advance for this service. Payment can be made by cheque, cash, credit card or debit card.
Do not interfere with the sample, the envelope or the container in any way – this may destroy the value of the sample and any report that we supply to you. If you post the sample to us, pack it in a strong, padded envelope and use recorded delivery.
