Charities endorsed by the Chairman
This year the Chairman of Kent County Council, Gary Cooke, will be supporting young carers by raising money for the following charities:
- Imago Kent Young Carers Service
- Crossroads Care Kent.
There are approximately 8,500 young carers in Kent, but the real number is much higher. The Chairman wants to help Imago and Crossroads identify many more of these young carers to provide them with much needed support.
Imago Kent Young Carers Service
Imago’s Kent Young Carers service supports and promotes positive mental health and emotional wellbeing for young people aged 5 to 18 who have to act as carers for a family member or friend with an illness, disability or mental health condition.
Imago works with professionals to identify ‘hidden young carers’ by raising awareness. They work with schools to create support groups to foster positive relationships between pupils, families and the school. The charity also provides opportunities for young carers to get together to share concerns, suggestions and make sure their voices are heard.
Crossroads Care Kent
Crossroads Care Kent offers a wide range of support, information, advice and guidance for young carers including:
- school support
- group nights for young carers
- trips and short breaks
- emotional support
- family support
- skills workshops
- opportunities for peer support
- work placements and CV workshops.

Aims
The aim of these charities is to provide meaningful interventions for young carers that will help reduce or prevent the impact that their caring role has on their education, life opportunities and emotional wellbeing.
Donate
Anyone can donate to the charities endorsed by the Chairman and any amount can be donated. All donations made will be split equally between the charities.
