If you'd like to keep your library book longer than the standard 21 days you can renew it in the following ways:
Renew your items at any of our libraries at the counter or by using a self-service kiosk.
Items will normally be renewed for a further full loan period unless already reserved by another customer.
If you return your library item after its due back date you will need to pay a fine. You can check when your library items are due back by logging in to your library account.
If you are late returning an item, the following charges apply:
If we send you a letter to remind you about unreturned items we will ask you to pay for the postage. We can now remind you for free by email 3 days before your items are due to be back to stop you from being fined. To sign up to this service, log into your library account and make sure ‘receive library notices by email’ is ticked on the personal details tab. You can also speak to a member of staff in any of our libraries.
If your local library doesn't have the book (or item) you want to borrow, you can reserve it for a small charge.
You can reserve items:
We will send you an email when your item is ready for collection and will give you 7 days to collect it. If the item is not collected within 7 days it will be returned to the shelves for other people to borrow.
If you have a visual impairment or other disability which stops you from using the book lending service you won't be charged for reservations. Contact your local library for more details.
Reservation fees are non-refundable whether or not the items can be supplied.
