It's become easier than ever to find an electric car to meet your needs, and price range, in recent years.

Most car manufacturers now produce a range of fully electric, or petrol-electric hybrid vehicles, and there is a growing resale market too.

Grants for buying electric vehicles

If you choose to purchase a brand new electric vehicle, you can get a discount through the UK Government's plug-in grant.

The grant can be used by individuals or businesses to purchase:

• cars
• mopeds
• motorbikes
• taxis
• trucks (businesses only)
• vans
• wheelchair accessible vehicles (WAVs).

You don't need to apply for the grant. The vehicle dealer will include the value of the grant in the vehicle's price.
