How Select and Collect works
You can select up to 6 books or audiobooks in advance and when they're ready you can collect them from one of the Select and Collect libraries. The loan period is for 6 weeks on all items issued through Select and Collect.
You can either tell us which specific books you want, or you can let us choose books for you based on your preferences.
Select your books
To select your books online:
- log in and check our online library catalogue to see the availability of our books. We can only provide books that are available at your chosen library
- note down the author and title the books
- complete our online form with your request.
If you prefer, call us on 03000 41 31 31 to speak to a member of staff. We will then contact you to arrange a collection date and time.
Sandgate Library has a different Select and Collect process, read how Select and Collect works at Sandgate Library.
For more information about the select and collection service read our frequently asked questions (PDF, 108.9 KB).
Social distancing at the library
Due to the various sizes of our buildings, we will manage the number of people allowed in the library at one time. If it is busy, we may ask you to wait outside until it is safe to come in.
Before you enter the library, we ask that you:
- sanitise your hands
- sanitise your gloves
- wear your mask (unless you are medically exempt)
- complete our track and trace information sheet.
During your visit, we ask that you:
- keep to social distancing measures outlined at the library
- keep your mask on at all times
- respect our staff.
Returning your books
Books requested via the Select and Collect service can be returned to any of our open libraries with drop boxes or return bins outside.
Charges for overdue items will be applied to books taken out via the Select and Collect service. We are offering extended loan periods of 6 weeks for up 6 items from this service.
How to make a payment
When paying, please use our card payment machines if possible.
If a card payment machine is not available at the counter, the charges can then be paid via one of our self service kiosks or online via your library account.
Cash payments can be made at our self-service kiosks.
