Payments for adult social work professionals

We offer competitive pay, and reward the hard work of our staff. The following market premium payments are for social work professionals within Older People and Physical Disability and Mental Health.

Payments are made in addition to your salary (subject to terms and conditions).

Golden hello market premium payments

Frequency: one-off payment on starting employment

Full or pro rata: pro rata

Pension: no

Professionally qualified Care Managers, Registered Practitioners, OTs, and Social Workers

Eligibility

Applies to Care Managers within Community Learning Disability (26+), Registered Practitioners and OT’s within all OPPD teams, and Social Workers within Mental Health team, DOLS and Safeguarding teams including Safeguarding Coordinators

Amount: £2,000

Criteria

  • appointed from outside of KCC (does not apply to transfers from other teams or divisions)
  • includes agency workers appointed to substantive roles
  • repayable if individual leaves within 2 years.

Team Manager

Eligibility

  • OPPD – North Kent Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley (DGS) only

Amount: £3,000

Criteria

  • must have at least 2 years post qualifying experience.
  • appointed from outside of KCC (does not apply to transfers from other teams or divisions)
  • includes agency workers appointed to substantive roles
  • repayable if individual leaves within 2 years

Senior Practitioner, Advanced Practitioner and Team Leaders in adults services teams

Eligibility

  • all areas within DOLS and Safeguarding teams including MH Safeguarding Coordinators

Amount: £3,000

Criteria

  • must have at least 2 years post qualifying experience
  • applied from outside KCC (does not apply to transfers from other teams or divisions)
  • includes agency workers appointed to substantive roles
  • repayable if individual leaves within 2 years

Professionally qualified Care Managers, Senior Practitioners and Social Workers

  • OPPD – North Kent Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley area only
  • Lifespan Pathway
  • 0-15 – extended to all teams in all areas
  • 16-25 – extended to all teams in all areas
  • 26+ team – Dartford, Gravesham, Swanley and Swale area only
  • Children’s Sensory Services teams
  • Mental Health – Dartford, Gravesham, Swanley
  • Team Managers in 0-25 teams only

Amount: £3,000

Frequency

  • split into 2 payments of £1500 and paid twice a year in June and December salary
  • qualifying periods: 01 June to 30 Nov; 1 Dec to 31 May.

Pension: yes

Criteria

  • Newly Qualified Social Worker’s have to have been in post for 12 months
  • externally recruited staff have to satisfactorily complete 6 months probationary period
  • carrying full caseload
  • performance level – achieving or above
  • not subject to any formal disciplinary or capability process
  • working in post for minimum 4 months in previous 6 months
  • still in post as of 30 June or 31 December

Approved Mental Health Practitioner (AHMP)

Amount: £2,000

Pension: yes

Criteria

  • paid on condition that they gain re-approval as an AMHP on a 5-yearly basis

Professionally qualified Care Managers, Social Workers, Senior Practitioners and Team Managers

  • Lifespan Pathway
  • 0-15 – all teams in all areas
  • 16-25 – all teams in all areas

Amount: £2,000 per annum

Frequency: paid in monthly instalments

Pension: no

Criteria

  • applies to eligible staff who use their own car to carry out their duties.
  • replaces any existing car allowance\premium (e.g. essential user allowance)
  • mileage rate = 45p per mile
  • must have business use insurance
