Reconnecting children and young people with their friends, family and community

One of the priorities for the Reconnect programme was to enable children and young people to enjoy fun activities with friends and family members, and to promote suitable engagement with services and support groups where appropriate.

Projects we funded

Reconnect funded a series of projects to support this priority, some of which are showcased below.

Big Summer Fun Challenge

Families could take part in 40 different activities over the summer holidays. Challenges included anything from mud pie making to scavenger hunts!
Winter wonderland

Thanks to Reconnect funding, a disabled resource centre in Herne Bay was transformed into a winter wonderland, complete with ice rink and Santa's Grotto.
Free summer bus passes

Kent bus companies generously offered young people and families free bus travel over the summer holidays.
Social activities for the deaf community

B.S.L Community organised social events for the deaf community including a cinema trip and Ninja Warrior session thanks to Reconnect funding.
