Mental health resources for primary aged children

Reconnect part funded the recording of the Fantastic FRED experience, which is being used to promote good mental health in Kent primary schools.

Specifically designed to inform, equip and build resilience, it delivers simple, memorable and practical ways that young children can look after their mental health and explains the link between our physical and mental health.

The letters in FRED’s name represent the areas of educational focus:

  • Food - eating the right foods.
  • Rest - getting enough sleep
  • Exercise - being active
  • Devices - managing your time on digital devices.

The Fantastic FRED Experience is all about prevention. With half of all mental health problems being established by the age of 14, the younger we engage children to equip and build emotional resilience the more likely we are to prevent mental health challenges developing when they are older.
