Won by the Be You Project

Tracey Shaw and Samuel Timms from the Be You Project receiving the Reconnect Community Award.
This team have worked tirelessly to get isolated young people into group settings with like-minded young LGBTQ+ young people.
They have helped them build connections in their areas and across the whole of Kent and Medway, through weekly group meet ups and community Pride events. So many young people remained in isolation after COVID-19, but this team has helped LGBTQ+ young people to feel like a community again. They've taught them life skills like budgeting and healthy eating and have given them the confidence to leave home to socialise or even return to school if they did not return after the pandemic.
The team never stop going above and beyond to make sure that these young people can live their best lives, given the extra difficulties they face by being part of the LGBTQ+ community.
