Proposers for a new school at Castle Hill, Dartford

  • Address: Castle Hill Park Development, Ebbsfleet, Dartford, Kent
  • Proposed opening date: September 2016
  • Size: 420 places for boys and girls aged 4-11

We are responsible for making sure there are enough school places for all pupils. We also work towards raising education standards and help children and their families in securing good quality education. The Kent Commissioning Plan for Education Provision 2015-2019 is key to achieving these aims and identifies the need for new school provision across Kent. One need is a new two-form entry primary school at Castle Hill in the Dartford district. Our Strategy for Children and Young People with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) identifies a need for more satellite units for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

Provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN)

The new school will be expected to be fully inclusive and to educate children with SEN for whom mainstream education is considered appropriate.

The school will host a specialist resource based provision (SRBP) for pupils who have greater difficulty in learning as a result of speech, language & communication needs. The objective of provision is to enable pupils to make progress in their speech, language and communication skills in an inclusive environment and to reduce their anxieties.

The SRBP will be inclusive provision for 15 pupils (usually 2 per year group). It will open in September 2016 and admit up to 5 pupils in the first year. After that, it will grow incrementally per year until it reaches its capacity of 15 places.

The promoters will need to sign a Service Level Agreement (SLA) (PDF, 225.8 KB) covering the SRBP.
