Guidelines for applying

International Baccalaureate Career Programme (IBCP) Pathway:

The Royal Harbour Academy offers students the full IBCP programme. Students will study one BTEC Level 3 diploma course which is equivalent to 2 or 3 A Levels, 2x IBCP courses and the core elements of the IBCP which consist of personal and professional skills, reflective project, language development and service learning.

Entry requirements: 5 x 9 – 4 grades at GCSE (or equivalent) including English and Maths

BTEC Level 3 Pathway:

Students will study 1 course as an extended diploma qualification which is equivalent to 3 x A Levels over 2 years. The courses are made up of the majority of coursework units; however, some BTECs now have a controlled assessment component. In addition to a BTEC Level 3 course students will study mathematics and or English GCSE resits if required and also core elements of the IBCP which will help develop academic and future employability skills.

Entry requirements: 5 x 9 - 4 grades at GCSE (or equivalent) with a minimum of 3 in English and or mathematics. Students that narrowly miss out on L3 entry requirements can still be accepted subject to a positive reference.

  • it will be compulsory to resit the GCSE in English and/or mathematics if you only have a grade below 4 in either subject (this is relevant to Year 12 and Year 13. These courses will be in addition to 3 options that you will have to select).
