How we respond to animal diseases
We play an important role in preventing and managing outbreaks of notifiable animal diseases. Notifiable means that animal keepers must tell certain organisations about suspected outbreaks, depending on the type of disease.
We have a number of plans in place to make sure we can respond quickly in an emergency situation.
Farmers advice
Farmers can request animal health advice by completing our animal health advice request form or by contacting our office on 03000 41 20 20 (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm).
You will be contacted by a fully qualified Trading Standards Officer within 5 working days. There is no charge for this advice.
