Safer Roads Fund - £25 million in 2017/18

The Department for Transport invited proposals from eligible local highway authorities to improve the safety of 50 specific sections of local A roads where the risk of fatal and serious collisions is highest, based on the analysis by the Road Safety Foundation.

The Safer Roads Fund was set up and committed to fund 48 schemes across Britain, set to prevent 1450 fatal and serious injuries over a 20 year period.

During 2012 - 2014, Kent was identified as having 2 roads in the top 50 - the A252 in Ashford, and the A290 in Canterbury.
