Policies

Our policies shape the way we deliver services to you.

We have policies that shape the way we deliver services to the people of Kent. These policies, once agreed by members of the county council, guide the way we develop services for the future.

Promoting equality and diversity

Our services aren't the same, and neither are the people who use them. We are a major employer and our staff and elected members are committed to promoting equality, valuing diversity and combating unfair treatment. Read our Equality and Diversity policy.

Providing customer care

We are working hard to improve Customer Care across all our services for the people of Kent.

Helping residents live in safety - Section 17 Crime and Disorder Act 1998 - our responsibilites

It our policy to ensure that Kent residents can live their lives in security and safety. Under Section 17 Crime and Disorder Act 1998 (PDF, 246k) we are obligated to incorporate community safety into our planning, our policy and our operational day-to-day activity.

Developing how we work with the voluntary and community sector

The Kent Compact agreement has helped us to improve and enhance our partnership with the voluntary and community sector.

Shaping the county's economic growth and regeneration

Together with the county's 12 district councils, we have signed the Kent Commitment agreement to co-operatively shape the area's economic growth and regeneration.

Producing and using high quality information to provide the best services

The Data Quality policy (PDF, 84k) communicates our commitment to data quality and outlines specific good practice guidance and advice to those involved in the production and use of data.

Making decisions on behalf of the county

Our Constitution sets out how the council operates, how decisions are made and the procedures which are followed to ensure that these are clear, efficient and accountable to local people.

Raising concerns

Our Whistleblowing Policy encourages employees to raise serious concerns, without fear of reprisal or victimisation, internally within KCC rather than over-looking a problem or raising the matter outside.

Reporting hate crime

You can report any type of hate crime, however small the incident, including criminal damage, assault, verbal abuse and harassment.

See our hate crime page for more information.
