Mid year population estimates
There are estimated to be 1,427,400 people living within the
Kent County Council area as at mid-2010.
Each year the Office for National Statistics (ONS) releases
estimates of the resident population for all areas within England
and Wales.
County and district level
The latest set of population estimates for Kent and districts
within Kent are for mid-2010 and were released by ONS
on 30 June 2011. A number of bulletins presenting the
mid-2010 estimates for Kent districts
have been produced. These include the latest estimates by
five-year age group and gender, a timeseries of how the population
has changed and reasons why the population has
changed.
The ONS has also released a set of experimental population
estimates by ethnic group at County and District level. These
relate to mid-2009. A time series back to 2001 is also
presented. The estimates for Kent districts are presented in the
bulletin
2009 ethnic population estimates for Kent (PDF,
174k). Ethnicity estimates are not available for
wards or parishes.
Ward level
The latest population estimates for electoral wards in Kent are for
mid-2010. These figures are presented in the bulletin
2010 ward level population estimates (PDF, 487k). The mid-2011
estimates are due to be published by the ONS
in Autumn 2012.
Parish level
The latest population estimates for Kent parishes are for
mid-2007. These figures are presented in the bulletin
2007 parish population estimates (PDF, 188k). We do not
have a date for further updates but will publish them here when
they become available.
Definition of resident population:
The estimated resident population of an area includes all people
who usually live there, whatever their nationality. Members of UK
and non-UK armed forces stationed in the UK are included and UK
forces stationed outside the UK are excluded. Students are taken to
be resident at their term time address.
