Districts

The county of Kent is split into 12 administrative areas known as local authority districts. We have produced a map of Kent local authority district areas (PDF, 97k) to illustrate the location of each of these areas.

The Kent County Council area covers all 12 of these areas. Medway is a unitary authority, which means that it is not included under Kent County Council's jurisdiction.

Local authority district areas are also divided into:

Kent County Council also uses a geography called a County Electoral Division. These are areas which Kent County councillors are elected to represent and differ to the electoral wards which local district councillors are elected to represent. Ordnance Survey have an Election Maps website where you can view maps of electoral geographies against various scales of mapping backgrounds.
