Commercial land

Commercial land data is used to monitor and research information for county and district requirements.

The current commercial land statutory annual monitoring reports are for the year 2010/2011. Individual reports are available for each of the 12 local authority districts in Kent and a summary report for the Kent County Council Area as a whole. Medway Council produces its own monitoring report.

These reports provide information on the overall losses and gains in commercial floor space across the county during the year.  The reports include the take-up of commercial land allocated in the Local Development Frameworks. Developments with planning permissions not yet started or under construction, by use class are also presented.

A summary of the commercial floorpsace completions for the year ending 31 March 2011 is presented in Commercial Floorspace completions in Kent (PDF, 475k)

Past versions of the commercial land statutory monitoring reports are available upon request from research@kent.gov.uk

Other commercial land information is gathered from a variety of independent reliable sources, which can be used to supplement and support the annual monitoring information. This other statistical information includes stock figures, vacancy rates and commercial land lost to housing development.
