Profile of Kent residents by age
The latest population data is
available by 5-year age group and gender for Kent local authority
districts, electoral wards, parishes and smaller geographies
referred to as lower super output areas.
The population data will indicate, for example, how
large Kent's young and elderly population are currently.
Kent's population profile is changing. Population forecasts show how the number of
young and middle aged people is forecast to decline in future
years, whereas the number of older people is forecast to
significantly increase.
Our population is ageing and one of the reasons for this is
increased life
expectancy.
For the time being, the 2001 Census provides the most
comprehensive socio-economic profile of the residents by age.
A selection of data outlining the characteristics (for example,
health, housing, employment status etc.,) for three population
groups is available:
Equivalent data from the 2011 Census will be available throughout
