Meradin Peachey is the Director of Public
Role and responsibilities
- health promotion and prevention, healthy lifestyles,
communicating health messages
- health protection, screening and immunisation programmes,
infection control, communicable disease outbreaks
- Health Intelligence, information that tells us about health and
disease patterns in the population and the quality of health and
social care services, audit, research and development.
All public bodies and other interested parties gain from having
one trusted source for public health information and analysis
on which to base their needs assessments, commissioning strategies
and local plans.
Meradin started her career as a nurse in Australia before coming
to England where she has spent 29 years in the NHS, with the last 7
years spent as joint appointments between the NHS and local
government in Kent. Her qualifications range from Health
Promotion and Public Health to a Masters in Health Management.
A Fellowship of the Faculty of Public Health was awarded in
Meradin has spent many years developing and leading public
health programmes for children, young people, adults, people with
long term conditions, tobacco control, sexual health
and alcohol across the NHS and local government.
She has worked in Shropshire and Bromley, and as Director
of Public Health for Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley from 2002 then
as Director of Public Health for Kent since December 2006.
Salary and expenses
Meradin's salary is £102,645.
Meradin's expenses for the current financial year (April to
October 2013) are £239.96.
