Who does what

Kent County Council is one of the largest councils in the country. We provide over 300 services for around 1.6 million residents.

Find out about who runs the council and how we develop and improve services for people living and working in Kent.

Cabinet Members

Through local elections every 4 years, residents choose the people who will represent them at council meetings and speak on their behalf about local issues.

They are known as elected members or Kent County Councillors.

Paul Carter, Leader of the council, and his 9 Cabinet Members represent public services and make decisions on how the council is run.

Corporate Management Team

The day-to-day running of the council is lead by our Corporate Management Team.

This team works with, and on behalf of, the Cabinet to run key public services across Kent.

We publish their salaries and expenses, which you can find on our Corporate Management Team pages.
