Everyone has a view about the recession, whether we are yet in
recovery and whether recovery can be sustained. The reality of
course is that the recession will continue to have an impact on
people's everyday lives for a long time to come.
This week we are promoting the help that people can get by going
into their local Gateway. Gateways are manned by staff from a range
of public sector agencies and voluntary groups. And you can pick up
a handy guide to beating the credit crunch called Money Box.
We will also be telling people about the Kent Credit Union "Kent
Savers" which we expect to launch in November.
The credit union is a not-for-profit savings and loan
co-operative owned and controlled by its members, offering people
who live or work in Kent access to affordable loans and flexible
and safe savings plans.
Since it started the Backing Kent People campaign has:
- launched a crackdown on loan sharks
- provided CAB with an additional quarter of a million
pounds
- provided financial advice for school leavers
- provided free home energy surveys to help people cut down on
their energy bills.
