About Kent Health Watch
Kent Health Watch is a 24 hour helpline for
people to call about any worries they have about health or social
care.
Any time of the day or night, 365 days a year,
there is a real person ready to talk and listen to any complaints
or compliments patients or their families have.
Why call?
Kent Health Watch is run by Kent County Council in partnership
with the NHS.
Kent Health Watch:
- is a signposting service that points callers in the right
direction
- helps make sure that all feedback about health and social care
services in Kent - including compliments and complaints - are
captured in the best way possible
- helps the NHS to make sure that all public views and
suggestions are taken into account to improve health and social
care services
- responds immediately and in person to make sure your call is
taken seriously
What happens when you call?
Kent Health Watch collects data by telephone or email, to record
and report back to the NHS and KCC.
Latest Kent Health Watch news
On Tuesday 12 July the Government announced Kent Health Watch
could be rolled out nationally.
The pioneering service began in 2008 and gives every patient in the
county the chance to make sure their voice is heard.
In the House of Commons the Secretary of State for Health, Andrew
Lansley, outlined plans for all authorities to start a local Health
Watch and the creation of Health Watch England. In the White Paper
‘Equity and Excellence: Liberating the NHS’ he detailed how similar
schemes would work.
Kent County Council Cabinet Member for Public Health Alan Marsh
said: “We have long been committed to making sure the patient was
at the heart of health care and today’s White Paper mirrors that
entirely.
“It makes me incredibly proud that the work already done through
Kent Health Watch will be taken across the country and be used as a
force for good.
“Nothing is more important in health care than the well-being and
welfare of the patient and their family and now everyone, not just
Kent residents, will benefit from the reassurance that there is
always someone there to listen to them.”
